The “Local Counsel Insight” Project

As every criminal lawyer knows, the practice of law varies drastically from one courthouse to the next in Ontario. Different bail procedures, first appearance procedures, Crown file management and disclosure rules. Even finding out a local agent to appear for an administrative appearance can be a significant challenge without the right contacts.

To address this challenge of practice, our firm has started our “Local Counsel Insight” project. We are seeking to compile the local knowledge of every criminal, and provincial offences courts in Ontario into one place for every lawyers’ benefit.  Our goal is to allow an out of town lawyer to be (almost) as knowledgable as the local duty counsel. We could really use your help in making this happen.

Please take a moment to complete the form to the best of your ability on any courthouse you have particular knowledge on.  At the end of form, simply hit “Submit” on the information and it will be emailed to those responsible for this project. From there, our firm will compile the information and make it publicly available to all lawyers on our website.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide. We hope in a very short time, this will be an invaluable resources for all criminal lawyers in Ontario.
